Units from the 1990s still take parts. Ironside Appliance Repair is an independent shop that works on that equipment right across the First Coast — Duval, St. Johns and Clay counties — and on nothing else. Kitchen appliances only. No heating, no air conditioning.
The grate and cap come off before anything is quoted. Most burner faults are visible from this position, and none of them need a control board.

Built-in kitchen appliances, one manufacturer. That is the entire list. Everything under the second heading is another trade, and we would rather say so here than send a van to an address we cannot help.

- Heating. Furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, thermostats. No brand, no exceptions. We do not carry the parts and it is not the trade this shop is set up for.
- Air conditioning. Nothing that conditions a room. The only thing we are asked to cool is the inside of a cabinet, and only on this manufacturer’s refrigeration.
- House ductwork. We work the duct run behind a range hood, because the hood is a kitchen appliance and the run decides whether it pulls. Ducting that carries heated or cooled air through the house belongs to an HVAC contractor.
- Water heaters. Tank or tankless, gas or electric. A plumber’s job. We check the water a dishwasher is given and stop at the shut-off.
- Laundry. No washers, no dryers, ventilated or heat pump. They are not in this manufacturer’s kitchen line and they are not on the van.
- Other makes. One manufacturer. If the badge does not say Viking, we will tell you on the phone instead of charging a diagnostic to find out.

Why half a built-in repair is getting the machine out
Cabinet openings, countertop overhangs, rails, weight and the connections at the back decide how long a built-in repair takes. None of it is visible from the front, which is why we look at the installation before quoting.
What salt air does to a condenser
Salt aerosol packs condenser fin stock, seizes fasteners and eats hinge pins. The symptoms mimic a refrigerant fault, which is how coastal owners end up quoted for sealed-system work they do not need.
Keeping a twenty-five-year-old range running
Burners, valves, hinges and thermostats stay available for decades. Electronics do not. Test the board first, then decide, and you will not put good money into a machine with no future.

A flat $80 diagnostic, the same for every appliance and every address in the radius. It covers the visit and the full diagnostic sequence, and it comes off the bill once you approve the repair.
Is Ironside a Viking service centre?
No. Ironside Appliance Repair is an independent shop with no manufacturer contract. We work on Viking kitchen equipment and name the brand only to say which appliances we service.
How soon can somebody get here?
Inside working hours — Mon-Fri 8am-6pm. Sat 9am-4pm. Closed Sunday. You get a window when you call. There is no 24 hour line and no emergency service, because we do not run one.
Do you work on anything but kitchen appliances?
No. Ranges, rangetops, wall ovens, refrigeration, wine storage, dishwashers, ventilation hoods and built-in outdoor grills — Viking equipment, and nothing outside the kitchen. No heating, no air conditioning, no house ductwork, no laundry.
Do you do furnace or air conditioning work?
No, and we never have. This is a kitchen appliance shop. Furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers and the ducting that serves them are an HVAC contractor’s trade, and we will say so on the phone rather than book a visit we cannot be useful on.

One burner clicked away without ever lighting. He cleaned the electrode and the cap, proved the spark was jumping the gap properly, and would not sell us a module we plainly did not need.
Ours was cycling constantly and never settling. He found the thermistor reading high, replaced it, and then sat and watched three full cycles through before he would say the job was done.
